Meet
Danny Mendez

DJ D’Mendez is a dedicated part of Portland’s Latin dance community, bringing people together through music and movement. Originally from Oaxaca, Mex. A native Zapotec, he grew up

surrounded by the sounds of Grupero and Banda music,

occasionally hearing Salsa and Bachata on the radio.

He grew up dancing the Oaxacan traditional Zapateado and Chilenas at family gatherings, embracing the rhythms of his culture.

His journey into Salsa dancing began in the early 2000s when, hoping to learn Cumbia, he stepped into a Salsa club in Eugene, OR. That night sparked a passion for Latin dance that has only grown over the years, leading him years later to DJing and

organizing events where people can come together and share the joy of music and movement.

Despite his deep love for Salsa and Bachata, Danny still enjoys dancing to the music he grew up with, staying true to his roots and never forgetting his humble beginnings. Fluent in Zapotec, Spanish, and English, he values culture, community, and creating a welcoming space for dancers of all levels.

Danny is more than just a DJ— he’s a dancer,

event promoter, and passionate music lover who enjoy sharing

his love for life and culture through music and dance.

His events are all about great music, good vibes, and bringing people together on the dance floor.
